When Will Walker opened his law firm in 2000, with $250.00 from teaching income at a local University, his students routinely asked “how can you do that?”. Will Walker responded “one case at a time”. To this day, he continues to hand out 20 business cards a day. Will has wished to be a lawyer since he was in the 6th grade. His only other dream was to be an astronomer (which quickly dissipated as he kept talking to people). This determination and commitment to advocacy is precisely what has lead Will Walker to million dollar civil payments to clients against insurance companies, state criminal charge acquittals, federal criminal charge acquittals, verdicts against Police departments and cities for brutality.
From 1981 until he graduated from law school in 1994, Will – or “Junior Walker”, as he was then called – had multiple life shaping jobs. At age 12, he started a lawn mowing business where the business grew to such a mass that he hired all the boys in the neighborhood to work for him. He paid each with a salary and pizza from the local shop in Hampton Virginia. Will went on to work for his father as a “young foreman” in a construction business toting shingles and roofing packs up two to 4 stories on his shoulder handling roofing and building jobs in Virginia.
While in high school and college, Will worked 40 – 60 hours per week in the summer and nearly full-time during the year. While in college, Will worked at a lumber yard cutting cedar tree trunks down for building, worked “on the mountain dew line” of a pepsi cola factory during the graveyard shift, and worked as a cook for Kentucky Fried Chicken to finance school, housing, and for spending money. He has held a penchant for earning and sharing income with those he is close to all his life.
After serving as president of his major, earning a degree and making the Deans List, in urban affairs from Virginia State University, Will worked as an intern at the State Capital for the City of Richmond, Virginia with the Department of Public Works. Wills’ nickname in College was “Mr. President”. Will worked as an intern until he packed his bags and caught a Greyhound bus to Minnesota to earn a dual degree, a Juris Doctor in Law and a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration. Will was one of the youngest students in his class. While in law school he received some of the highest awards in the history of the law school for Moot Court competitions including Best Appellees Brief and Best Oralist. Up to his graduation from law school, no student in the history of the school had advanced as far as Will in the Douglas competition. Will served as President and Regional Director of the local and regional law students association each year he was in law school and has received awards for the National Deans List while in law school.
At the age of 22, while in law school, Will worked with the Minneapolis Urban League training jueveniles as to their rights under the 4th amendment and representing the indigent in housing evictions. He also worked with the Santa Barbara County, California Public Defender and BLI, legal entities specializing in criminal defense. By 25, Will later followed his interest and joined a personal injury law firm in California where he worked long hours learning the trade. Knowing he needed more training he returned to Minnesota after law school where he accepted a Judicial Clerkship with the Chief Judge in St. Paul, Minnesota at the State Capital. It was here that he learned the detailed innerworkings of civil litigation including personal injury, asbestos litigation, breach of contract cases, and serious state felonies being prosecuted from the viewpoint of a Judge. This gave Will the balance and temperment to evaluate and prosecute cases in his practice today.
Today, Mr. Walkers’ law firm has offices and staff in Minnesota and Texas. The firm specializes in Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Immigration. Mr. Walker is admitted to the State Bars of Arizona, Minnesota, and Texas, in addition to the Federal District Courts of Texas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. He has appeared in countless courtrooms in multiple states and has a proven record of success through hardwork and preparation. Mr. Walker enjoys a good fight where necessary and will put forth the necessary effort to win the case and or obtain a favorable result for his client.
